Bring Minneapolis’ best style off the streets and into your home! The Upcycle Challenge is your chance to bid on hand-crafted, repurposed pieces created by Minneapolis’ top style influencers and tastemakers. We’ve recruited 6 local partners to repurpose a pre-loved chair from ReUse Minnesota using Sherwin Williams paint and additional materials their creative minds can come up with! Each chair will be auctioned off throughout the weekend with 100% of the silent auction proceeds benefiting ReUse Minnesota to connect people to the reuse businesses and services they need.

ReUSE Minnesota makes more reuse happen. It’s simple. We connect people to the reuse businesses and services they need. We help grow local reuse, repair, and rental businesses by connecting them to new customers and to other reuse businesses. And we have fun doing it. Why? Because reuse is good for people and communities, now and in the future. Our vision is a strong Minnesota reuse economy that leads the nation.

Katrina's Upcycled Furnishings
“Practical Beauty” represents the mission we have at Katrina’s Upcycled Furnishings in Wayzata. We take practical pieces and give them beautiful makeovers! The inspiration for this chair came from the vintage key fabric used on the seat. Vintage keys were very practical and beautiful at the same time. When you mesh practicality with beauty, there is great joy and satisfaction! This gorgeous chair can be used in an entryway, at your desk, or as extra seating in almost any room! Enjoy!
A Throne Fit for a PRINCE
Upsy-Daisy took inspiration from Minnesota’s own fashion icon, Prince, specifically what he wore to the Chanel show during Paris Fashion Week in October 2009. We were inspired by the geometric (straight edge) print combined with the softness of the ruffle on his coat and chose to infuse this look into our “captain’s chair.”
Kelli Kaufer Designs
The inspiration came from a chair I saw at a local café in Oslo, Norway. It blended straight lines with comfort by mixing interesting materials. The simple hard lines of this chair deserved personality and style. Now Oddvar reflects unique attention on its own thru use of paint, upholstery, leather and metal.
Urban Loft Desk Chair
From traditional to transitional, this chair was given new life and broader appeal with a cool, neutral color that resembles concrete and showcases the chair’s clean lines. The look was inspired by the industrial style of an urban loft, though it would also work in a softer contemporary setting.
Blueprint * Redprint
Melding technology with technology: this mass produced chair gets an overhaul with the addition of an architectural blueprint in tones of red further enchancing the circular cutouts of the original chair in a bolder style.
Time Bomb Vintage
Pure black paint for metal. Semi gloss.
Originally produced by Domore industries this sturdy chair was in high demand due to the growth of the need for factory worker seating. Over the years industrial and task seating has mainly changed in style and not function. Today’s living still commands a comfortable and sturdy chair. I say, “A chair can also look great while it does its job.” This incredibly strong chair has many more years of good use with its new modern style. Inspiration for this chair came from my great love of mixing texture and pattern.
